The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is a federal corporation created to ensure that Canadians benefit from modern, sustainable infrastructure through partnerships between governments and the private sector.
Its core functions are to support (through advice, research and data) and invest in infrastructure projects, to act as a center of expertise on infrastructure projects, and to provide evidence-based advice to all levels of government.
CIB’s activities leverage private-sector capital and expertise to deliver public results for the benefit of taxpayers.
The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) will invest in enabling infrastructure for critical minerals.
Among other things, the CIB will finance the construction of access roads, the generation and transmission of clean energy, and the improvement of wastewater management facilities related to critical minerals mining in Canada.
Novinor Innovation is delighted to see the federal government supporting the development of Canada’s critical mineral resources and supply chains. We hope to see similar initiatives in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Nord-du-Québec.
It’s up to governments to put forward tangible measures to support the mining industry and the communities involved in the energy transition challenge.
